He Let Me Get Up Today

He Let Me Get Up Today

By Richard Moss MD

September 15 2024

I’ve been wandering in a daze,

Confused by the clouds and haze.

You pointed an arrow at the apple,

And the world came down around the chapel.

My faith did weaken against the hard rain,

He said a kingdom dwells within the pain.

He let me get up today and see,

Now the rest is on me.

Go forth and tame the wild beast,

There is ruin around you but also a feast.

What fear have you when eternity beckons,

Embrace your soul, it is not a felon.

Your wife has left you,

Your children launched a coup.

Against you the trees and rivers have conspired,

And no one is left to inspire.

The clouds set upon you with malice,

The seasons gather and take you to the palace.

Earth cracks open and swallows,

The noose hangs from the gallows.

My faith did weaken against the hard rain,

He said a kingdom dwells within the pain.

He let me get up today and see,

Now the rest is on me.

The dark clouds threaten your vision,

Mirrors mislead you but extract you from prison.

A hard rain is coming but don’t despair,

God will be merciful as long as you care.

Where in the heavens is the broken earth?

It cracked open, rained, and stole the hearse.

O Lord may the earth yield her increase,

We praise you and sing that the flood waters cease.

O God will you speak and let our enemies scatter,

Even Sinai will bow and not flatter.

We await your truth and sing your praise,

For the blood of your law will extend our days.

My faith did weaken against the hard rain,

He said a kingdom dwells within the pain.

He let me get up today and see,

Now the rest is on me.
