DO ALL matters without grumblings and disputings, in order that you be blameless and faultless, children of Elohim without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding on to the Word of life…   (Phil 2:14-16  HRVS)  Emphasis mine.

Messiah’s parable of the wise and foolish virgins illustrates how we cannot acquire spiritual light using someone else’s oil. (Matt 25:1-13)  Spiritual oil cannot be borrowed, bought, or bargained for; we must press the fruit for it ourselves.  Just as natural fruit (olives) must be pressed to produce natural oil, so must spiritual fruit (Gal 5:22-23) be pressed to produce spiritual oil.  However, while “pressing on” (Hos 6:3; Phil 3:12,14) through all life’s trials and troubles, sometimes our spiritual light can begin flickering out due to battle-weariness and discouragement.  And, according to the above Scripture, it’s “complaining and disputing” that are the telltale signs of giving in to the devil’s forces striving to snuff out Abba-YHWH’s Light in us. 

However, remember, “we are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair” (2 Cor 4:8), and our ALL-mighty Father provides instruction in His Word for defeating our enemy of old: first, we overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb (KNOWING the priceless blood of  Yeshua redeems us from the devil’s control); second, the word of our testimony (speaking ONLY the Word of YHWH);  AND third, not loving our own lives (our own ways, thoughts and plans) to the death (or, detriment) of Elohim’s “good plans” (pre-ordained destinies) He’s created for each of our lives.  Typically we’re only taught, read or speak the first two instructions, but make no mistake, all THREE criteria must be met if we are to overcome the devil’s works to kill, steal and destroy any area of our lives.  (Rev 12:11; Jer 29:11; John 10:10) 

Furthermore, because Abba-YHWH said “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26), we know there are physical things we can do, as well, for instantaneously separating ourselves from the powers of darkness and filling our own lamps (life in Messiah) again with Elohim’s glorious, almighty Light: doing good deeds in His name (Neh 6:19); praising the might of His hand for saving us (Psa 138:7); interceding for others in prayer (even our enemies!) (Eze 22:30; Matt 5:44); obeying His ways (Jer 7:23); spending time loving and worshiping Him (Deut 6:5; Psa 29:2)…to name only a few. 

O how amazing it is to watch Abba-YHWH cause our Light to shine brightly again as we persevere in doing all things HIS WAY, in the name of Yeshua Ha’ Mashiach, Messiah Jesus of Nazareth, amen!   (Phil 4:9)

And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be. And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness. (Gen 1:3-4  HRVS)

So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord…then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor…     (2 Cor 6:17  AMP)
