Saul replied, "You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; YOU ARE ONLY A BOY…  (1 Samuel 17:33  NIV)

 It’s no coincidence David first had to endure this kind of persecution from his brethren (also in verse 28) before he faced the giant in battle.  For when consider David’s example here for Abba-YHWH’s instruction to overcome the giants we face today, we shouldn’t be surprised when discovering the enemy strategically uses OUR OWN BRETHREN to remind us who we “are only”, as well—that we “are only” a high school dropout, or a drug addict, or that we’re too young or too old, or whatever else that lying devil wants us to believe we “are only”…  (2 Cor 2:11; 1 Pet 4:12)

Now that we’re prepared for the devil to attack us in this same way using our own brethren— those we believe know us best and, typically, who we care most about what they say or think about us—let’s look at how David overcame this kind of opposition so we can go on and conquer the giants in our own land.  The first thing he did was turn away from anyone agreeing with the devil’s words of fear and doubt and, instead, sought someone who would only agree with what YHWH says.  (Verse 29)   David then went on to build himself up in faith (Jude 1:20) by recalling his past experiences of victoriously killing both a lion and a bear when they attacked his flock.  (Verses 32 – 34)  He also clearly understood that the protective armor of somebody else’s personal experiences with YHWH would never fit him, failing to properly equip him for this battle .  (Verses 38 – 40) 

Lastly, but not least, when facing giants in our own lives we must remember to proclaim aloud, as David did, that these evil spirits DO NOT have a covenant with Abba-YHWH—WE DO!  (Verses 45-46)  They come from the devil and, thereby, DEFY the armies of the Almighty, El Shaddai.  That means when such giants wage battles against children of Elohim, they are actually fighting AGAINST Him!  Therefore, the battle is not ours but YHWH’s (verse 47), and with Him for us, WHO can be against us! (2 Chron 20:15; Rom 8:31) Now let’s get out there, Brethren, trusting Abba to help us chop off some Elohim-purpose-destroying giants’ heads off, in the Name and by the Blood of Yeshua Ha’ Mashiach, Messiah Jesus of Nazareth.  Amen!

For thus says the Lord, “…for I will contend with those who contend with you…”     (Isa 49:25  AMP)

What then shall we say to this? If Elohim is for us, who is against us? Truly, He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up on behalf of us all – how shall He not, along with Him, freely give us all else?   (Rom 8:31-32 ISR’98)
