Heaven Renders Judgement

The gardens fail with the dwindling sun,
There is glory in the dying of the season.
Darkness now comes early,
But do not object, that is treason.
Seasons pass the lonely forest,
Where is my strength amidst the resting hill?
Obey when heaven renders judgement.
Even the earth fears and is still.
I lost my dream in the midst of sleep,
Where is our sanctuary even as we scheme?
We accept your tender mercies,
Thine arrows pierce the stream.
Can I betroth the fallen sky,
Sing a melody as we kill?
Obey when heaven renders judgement.
Even the earth fears and is still.
I cried to heaven with my voice,
Was there a trophy of the sun?
In the day of trouble, we sought the Lord.
Alas, there was no victory to be won.
What cruelty prevails in the fallen earth?
Can we find comfort and lose our will?
Obey when heaven renders judgement.
Even the earth fears and is still.
I cling to the sky,
And tremble before your power.
My infirmity extends a dark shadow,
I will miss the warmth of your broken flower.
If I press the dry leaf upon my arm,
The emptiness frightens but will not kill.
Obey when heaven renders judgement.
Even the earth fears and is still.
The cold waters gather around you,
The thunder of your voice pierces the depths.
Deliver us from solitude,
Redeem us soon, our loyalty is kept.
I will speak of your works,
The long shadow of your miracle,
Obey when heaven renders judgement.
Even the earth fears and is still.
